YEAR 4 ACTION PLAN
Innovate within current advising supports and systems to access and reach more students with the support they need for successful transitions from high school to postsecondary education and persistence to completion of degree or credential.
Outcome 2.1: Collaboration is formalized between MNPS and postsecondary partners at the school and district levels.
● 2.1.1: Identify the network of postsecondary partners working with the Support Hub and individual schools across the district.
Formalized postsecondary partnerships identified in August 2023.
● 2.1.2: Establish regular communication cadence and areas of collaborative work for MNPS and postsecondary partners with support from the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Director of Partnerships for Postsecondary Readiness hired at MNPS in July 2023.
Outcome 2.2: Advising professionals develop relationships and understand roles and responsibilities across partner organizations so referrals and outreach can be completed more easily.
● 2.2.1: Communicate and/or visualize roles and responsibilities for advising professionals across community partners.
Advising Map created to visualize current advising supports in Academies of Nashville high schools.
● 2.2.2: Identify and track progress on relevant Momentum Metrics.
Currently being worked on by the Data work team.
Outcome 2.3: A process is created to offer collaborative events between K-12, post-secondary institutions and community-based organizations.
● 2.3.1: Determine tool to share collaborative events such as a shared calendar across institutions.
● 2.3.2: Develop structures for support and accountability with stakeholders to implement collaborative events.
Outcome 2.4: Opportunities are identified to collaborate with partners on early advising that includes exposure to pathways and college and career planning for 9th grade students.
● 2.4.1: Identify current early advising practices and opportunities for partners to provide asset-based support.
Brainstormed current early advising activities as a team.
● 2.4.2: Test collaborative projects and supports to determine opportunities to continue or scale partner involvement.
Outcome 2.5: Resources are identified and barriers are addressed to improve the K-12 to postsecondary support continuum.
● 2.5.1: Identify policy barriers that prevent students from seamlessly transitioning and persisting and make recommendations for how barriers can be removed through policy change.
